Families of Kakamega twins bury the hatchet ,embrace education
Following the intervention of H.E. governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, the families involved have put their wrangles aside and decided to focus on the education of the three girls caught up in the ‘switch at birth’ saga.
This happened yesterday after the governor gave the families time to reflect on the future of the girls away from the glare of the public and futile drama in mainstream and social media.

The girls, Sharon Mathias, Melvis Imbaya and Melon Lutenyo, accompanied by their parents met the governor for the second day in a row and updated him on the latest truce.
The excited girls have since agreed to go back to Form Three in three separate and reputable public high schools in Kakamega County where they will get ample opportunity to prepare for Form Four KNEC examinations next year.
Sharon will join Butere Girls, Melvis proceeds to St. Mary’s Mumias and Melon will be enrolled at Bishop Sulumeti Girls, Kakamega. The girls are due to pick their admission letters to the respective schools as the County boss ensures that all other requirements are met before the now famous trio settle down for serious studies in their respective schools.
According to County education officials, the girls have performed averagely in class but due to limited family resources and the recent high profile DNA analysis drama, they require to slow down and concentrate on the most important issue in their lives – education.
The families expressed their gratitude to the governor for his timely intervention that secured them admissions in reputable schools.
Mr. Dickson ogonya County Education officer Kakamega will contact KNEC to convey the girls’ decision to skip this year’s examinations.
Also present was the deputy governor H.E. Prof. Philip Kutima.

This is a positive move from the governor’s side. I think the publicity was too thrilling it’s better that they now embark on school work. It’s more interesting that they’re now joining different schools.
