Comedian Eric Omondi arrested while protesting

Comedian Eric Omondi was yesterday February 21,2023 arrested along parliament road while leading a demonstration against the high cost of living.

The comedian-turned-activist led a group of youths donned in black shorts with bare chests carrying banners with messages, “high cost of living”, “stima juu”, and “tax juu”. The demonstration brought businesses along Parliament road to a standstill.

The police were forced to use teargas to disperse the demonstrators after an attempt to peacefully stop their demonstration did not bore fruit leading to their arrests. Eric was taken to Central police station, Nairobi where he spent the night awaiting to be arraigned in court today.

This is not the first for the comedian to be arrested at the same spot. Earlier in November 2021, he led a demonstration in support of “Play 75% Kenyan music ” where he was arrested.
