Disability is not inability;Buzeki tells PLWDs during vote hunt

Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant has affirmed that if elected, his  government will prioritize the interests of persons with disabilities (PWDs).


Speaking on Thursday, May 19, during a campaign trail in Chembulet and Soliat areas within h Moiben and Ainabkoi sub-counties, respectively, Buzeki said that he would ensure that the voices of the PLWDs are heard in his government.


“We shall establish a County Disability Fund to help PLWDs meet some societal challenges,” Buzeki said.


He also indicated that his government would carry out PWD capacity building exercises to enable the special group to access the County Disability Fund.


“From August, my government will strive to adhere to the Constitutional provision of 5% employment of PLWDs. I want to tell all the PWDs in Uasin Gishu that my administration will train and empower them to do business in a conducive environment,” said Buzeki.


He also pledged  that during his tenure in office, he would ensure that all the monies from the National Treasury meant for the PWDs would serve their intended purposes.


“And it should be on record that I will ensure that all these monies from the national government get to them because these are our parents and children, and they belong to our society and,” he added.
Buzeki vying on an Independent ticket, said that PWDs can also contribute significantly to the economy’s growth.


“As they say, disability is not inability, so we are ready to support the PWDs empowerment initiatives once we take over power in Uasin Gishu,” explained Buzeki.
