ODPP to establish a Prosecution Training Institute

The office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) headed by Noordin Haji is set to establish a Prosecution Training Institute a one of its kind prosecutorial research and knowledge management institution.

Speaking on Monday January 30,2023 during the 16th Annual General Meeting and Africa Prosecutors Association conference in Mombasa that brought together 43 countries, Haji called upon stakeholders to partner with Kenya through the institute as it will enhance capacity building.

“I would thus like to encourage you all to partner with us through our Prosecution Training Institute to enhance capacity building so that we may harness proactive, innovative, and preventive strategies that are reflective of today’s evolving crime landscape, as well as, the need to safeguard human rights,” he said.

Haji uploaded the conference stating that it will help in tackling transnational organized crimes across the continent and enhance fair and effective administration of justice by providing a platform to continuously share best practices, skills, and expertise and also for the development of enhanced formal and informal cooperation mechanisms.

The ODPP affirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law while undertaking its mandate. “I want to affirm to you, that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions- Kenya, will continue to promote and facilitate continental and international cooperation in upholding the rule of law, whilst ensuring adherence to prosecutorial ethics and human rights,” he said.

 Haji also hailed the President, William Ruto for his commitment to the fair administration of justice across the criminal justice system.
