United States to face Netherlands in women’s world cup final

United States will face Netherlands in the final of the women’s world cup.

Netherlands eliminated Sweden in the semi-final in 99th minute when Jackie Groenen scored a dramatic winning goal with her wonderful strike into the left corner.

Three times world cup winner US is facing a team ranked eighth in the world and are now on a 12-match winning streak in major tournaments after winning EURO 2017 and reaching the final in France.

The Netherlands coach Sarina Weigman said it’s one match and anything can happen.

It is also going to be the second world cup final to be contested by teams managed by female coaches with 24 teams which featured in the tournament but only 9 were teams managed by women.

Being the defending champions, United States are expected to do better having won the competition three time.

It a team with experienced stars such as Alex Morgan, Mega Rapinoe and Tobin Heath who are expected to lead the team to a potential fourth world cup win after overcoming England 2-1 in a hard fought game in semi-final where Phil Nevilles’ side had a goal ruled out for offside and America’s goalkeeper Alysaa Naeher saved a penalty.

The final will be held in Lyon ,France on Sunday,July 7 at 1800 GMT
