Homa Bay county mourns

Homa Bay County Executive Committee member nominee in charge of roads and infrastructure, Philemon Dony Opar passed on Friday night at 10p.m. Opar was shot to death by unknown assailants. The incident took place at his petrol station where it is believed he had gone to collect the day’s money within Kendu Bay in Rachuonyo sub County.
According to eye witnesses, unknown people attacked the petrol station and headed straight to Opar shooting him twice at close range killing him on the spot before speeding off.
Homa Bay county police commander, Esther Seroney confirmed the incident and said that investigations into the incident are underway. She also confirmed that the killers will be found and justice will take it’s course.
Sources have revealed that Opar was the second victim to be attacked in a span of three years and it’s said that he was the third county official to be attacked.
Homa Bay Deputy Governor, Hamilton Orata said that Opar’s death was a big blow to the county government and more so to the family and relatives.
The post mortem results indicate that he suffered a single gunshot wound that led to internal bleeding .The post mortem was led by government pathologist Dickson Muchana and Margaret Oduor for the family.
Opar had already been approved by the Homa Bay County assembly and was just waiting to take oath of office before his tragic death.
